Germany, produced a set of 12 long magic lantern slides that represent six
well-known stories divided into two slides each (above). These are the two slides that
deal with the story of John Gilpin. The same images appear on a disc shaped glass slide, also made by Ernst Plank (left). The disc is 6 inches (150 mm) in diameter and has 8 circular coloured images. |

This time the story of John Gilpin is depicted on two long magic lantern slides that contain eight hand painted pictures. They are manufactured by Newton, London. There are stamped makers marks in the wooden frame. Each frame measures 35.5 cm long and 9 cm wide. | ||

The slides are numbered 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7. So no. 4 is missing and the complete series is probably larger. The manufacturer is Carpenter Westley. |

Johnny Gilpin. In this set of slides from an unknown manufacturer our hero is called "Johnny" again. The slides are square, 8.2 x 8.2 cm. Eight images from this set correspond to slides from Butcher's set below. |
