THEOBALD & Co. De Engelse fabrikant en grossier van een indrukwekkende hoeveelheid toverlantaarnseries John Theobald (1858-1926) startte in de jaren 1880 zijn bedrijf in Londen. Hoewel de toevoeging '& Co.' anders doet vermoeden was John altijd de enige eigenaar van het bedrijf. Het bedrijf leverde ook lithografische overdrukplaatjes op vellen, waarmee de kopers hun eigen lantaarnplaten konden vervaardigen, en ook lantaarnplaten op een speciaal soort transparant papier, die tussen twee blanco glazen platen moesten worden geplaatst om te kunnen worden geprojecteerd. Hij runde zijn bedrijf tot oktober 1911.
		Aanwijzingen voor het gebruik: De series, die meestal uit een twaalftal lantaarnplaten bestaan, werden geproduceerd aan het einde van de 19e en het begin van de 20e eeuw. Het lijkt er op dat zij verkocht werden onder een aantal verschillende merknamen, waarbij veel doorverkopers soms hun eigen namen aan de series gaven. Vandaar ook dat de series verpakt zijn in veel verschillende kartonnen doosjes. Het staat dan ook niet vast dat Theobald de fabrikant is van alle sets lantaarnplaten die hieronder genoemd worden, of dat hij voor een deel slechts een van de vele doorverkopers was. De titels hieronder zijn als volgt gemerkt: TCAT1890 # 00 --- De set komt voor in de Theobald & Co. Catalogus van 1890. ABTS # 00 --- De set is verschenen in de All Brithish T Series. TTSS # 00 --- De set is bekend als een deel van de Theobald Transfer Slide Sets. LGSCAT --- Sets die voorkomen in de Lancaster Catalogus als Lancaster's Graphochrome Slides (zonder serienummer).
